Singapore
When you walk around Singapore, you imagine yourself in the future. This modern city-state with countless skyscrapers offers you technological marvels and a mix of different Asian cultures.
Must-do’s in Singapore
– Visiting Gardens by The Bay
– Staying overnight at the Marina Bay Sands hotel
– Eating in a food court
– Visiting Sentosa Island
– China Town & Little India
– Go shopping
Singapore, a city-state of 5.6 million people, has it all. Untouched jungle, islets and a gigantic modern city with countless skyscrapers.
What makes Singapore even more unique is how safe it is here. I used to joke that I could put my iPhone in the middle of a shopping street, and find it back in the exact same place after an hour. Crime is so heavily punished that it just almost doesn’t exist there. The prohibition signs are therefore funny to see. For instance, it is strictly forbidden to take Durian fruit into the underground because it stinks.
The iconic Marina Bay Sands, no less than 195 metres high, exudes future and wealth. Singapore is the walhalla for shoppers and those who love (high-tech) entertainment are in the right place. There is no shortage of culture either, in Chinatown and Little India you can walk from temple to temple.
Singapore can entertain you for days, weeks or years.
Sleep & swim in Marina Bay Sands
Sleep in the hotel with the tallest infinity pool in the world! Only guests at the hotel are allowed to swim on this phenomenal rooftop. We did it and tell you all about it.
If you love skyscrapers, a night at this hotel should be on your bucket list!
Sentosa Island
Sentosa Island brings paradise and entertainment together. It is impossible to get bored here. Eat at one of the many food courts, sip cocktails on the tropical (artificial) beach under a palm tree and if that’s not enough….
You have a cable car, an amusement park, two golf courses, the world’s largest aquarium, Madame Tussauds and several museums. And you can party well there, too.
Welcome to Singapore!
The Singapore government wants to transform from ‘garden city’ to ‘city in a garden’ and they are taking it very seriously. At Gardens by The Bay, you will discover how technology merges with flora and fauna.
The ‘supertrees’ you see are up to 50 metres high, you can admire them up close via the walkway. Every evening, the park turns into a light show. A cool show worth seeing both from the ground and from the Marina Bay Sands building.
Under the ‘domes’ – the largest greenhouses in the world, you’ll find a huge collection of exotic plants. And there is so much more to see. If you go here, set aside at least a full day for it.
Must-do’s in Singapore
Singapore need not be a final destination.
We combined our trip to Singapore with Bali and the Gili Islands.
The flight from Singapore to Denpasar (DPS) in Bali takes 2 hours and 45 minutes.
