This was one of the less luxurious stays, but in our opinion the best for a local experience! When you stay here you really get to know Bali.
We had such a good time here that a week later we decided to come back for two more days. The hosts are such lovely people!
They really absorb you into their family and are eager to show you their culture. For example, they took us to a private full moon ceremony; we were even allowed to borrow traditional clothing from them! Every morning you get a delicious Balinese breakfast and can enjoy the wonderful tranquility and nature.
You really feel like you’re in the jungle, even though you’re actually in the city. This is truly a magical place and I would go back there in a heartbeat!
Bakung Ubud Resort and Villa *** | from €25 per night
If you are looking for a little more luxury but still have a small budget, this accommodation is well worth it.
We chose two nights at this hotel at the time when we were ready to relax by the pool. The hotel is located among the rice fields and you will find complete relaxation here.
If you do want to go into town, hop on the free shuttle bus. You can drive back and forth at different times. The hotel has a nice pool and you can eat delicious food.
Tirta Arum **** | from €29 per night
Infinity pools are fun not only in a city full of skyscrapers, but also when you’re overlooking the jungle! At Tirta Arum in Ubud, you have such an infinity pool!
And yes, here too you can go for a floating breakfast, a typical Bali thingy, but we are fans!
Prefer your own infinity pool? That too is possible, it costs a little more, but then you have something 😉
Weda Cita Resort and Spa by Mahaputra ***** | from € 76 per night
Looking for real luxury, in a 5 star hotel? Check out this hotel because it really is a gem!
The resort has a restaurant and you can dine particularly romantically. On honeymoon or something else to celebrate? They have everything here to celebrate in a unique and special way.

Wana Bucu Villas by Pramana Villas ***** | from €149 per night
If you want to show off on Instagram, this is your hotel! But also if you are not doing it for Instagram, but just enjoy swimming among the flowers.
Because the floating breakfast you may have in most luxurious places, a pool full of flowers is something else entirely. Or a bath, the choice is yours.
Each villa has – of course – its own swimming pool.
